Hey all. I had another question if some of you don't mind helping me out again. I just got off the phone with a recruiter who is attempting to help me get in contact with my local one (who has dodged the phone for the last four business days). I informed him that I am active duty enlisted and he asked if I had a conditional release. I replied that I did not and have about a year and some change left on my contract. Also, I have about a year left before I graduate with my degree.
He stated that I would be unable to submit a packaged unless my CO signs a conditional release form prior to sending my package through. This was a bit perplexing to me. I have to leave the military before I send a package that may not even get accepted? As a man with a family, this is a bit worrisome as it means I would have to leave a job before I even got accepted into another one. It just doesn't make sense to me.
I don't see why I couldn't send my package through and if I were accepted then request a conditional release. If I get it great, if not bummer I'll try again. I'm sure civilians who have gotten accepted in the past have ended up not attending OCS because of some personal issues... I just don't understand why I would need to take such a large and unnecessary risk.
I know in the past I've seen an enlisted airmen put through an OCS package while still being on active duty, get accepted, and head off. Am I missing something here?
On an unrelated manner sorry for the long post... I enjoy writing.
Thanks again!
