Conditioning for OCS

Make sure you keep up your conditioning after OCS as well. Maintain what you worked hard to achieve. Too many OCS grads are failing the chip trail down here.

I know many have already posted about the high carb diet and all of that here. I'm just curious though, do they still make you clean your plate?

No. They can't make you eat or drink anything. However, it is highly advisable to eat as much as you can in the 3 20-minute opportunities you have to do so each day. The cottage cheese is a pretty good energy-dense option with plenty of carbs, protein, and fat if you need to stuff something down in a hurry. Don't forget your greens, either.

I have been running a 24:00 minute 3-mile. I have tried running it faster, but it seems that I have plateaued at this time. I recently purchased an altitude mask and I was wondering if anyone else had any success with using them?

I live at mile high altitude and I tell you. It 100% works. My run time was minutes faster at sea level in Virginia and now that I'm here, it's so slow! I've been slowly chipping away at the time increase and my wind is improving like crazy. I went to CA and was at sea level again and ran like the wind with ease.

You can improve your time using Fartleks and adding a Long/Slow distance day on the weekend.

It takes a mix of training to get that time down, don’t get stuck in a rut.

The mask is stupid, focus on muscle building, not packing RBC’s (which is what you get with altitude training)...
