Don't feel bad for him, feel bad for the four kids.Am I supposed to feel bad for that? Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I wonder how many outraged people knew who he was before Neil Young made a public stink about his politics. There will also be a boycott against them if they silence Joe. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. Such is the state of the country and our "if you disagree with me then I will burn your life to the ground" mindset.
Conversely. I am sure many are asking who is Neil Young…I wonder how many outraged people knew who he was before Neil Young made a public stink about his politics.
I know I didn't.
I don't think they are. I think they read a headline about an anti-vaxxer and decided to cancel their spotify subscriptions to show solidatarity to 'the cause.' I'd wager that the supermajority of people doing this have neither listened to a single Neil Young song nor a single Joe Rogan podcast.Conversely. I am sure many are asking who is Neil Young…
If he gets banned from Spotify, he'll become a martyr of cancel culture and make bank on his own distribution. Not only that, Spotify will be fighting a lawsuit to pay the full $100M.Spotify can hardly silence him. He is free to host his own distribution, and his video content continues to be hosted on his very popular YouTube channel, which has 11.8M subs. All of that said, I'll be surprised if Spotify drops him. The faux outrage contingent has an extremely short attention span.
Nobody's free speech is being suppressed. Young is putting his money where his mouth is, since I assume Spotify was paying him for playing his music.![]()
Joni Mitchell joins Neil Young in protest against Spotify
The singer-songwriter is the first high-profile musician to join Young's protest against the streaming service over its hosting of Joe Rogan's podcast.www.npr.org
Gotta love old counter culture liberals promoting suppression of free speech. Guess Joni no longer sees both sides of clouds.
For as much as you glom on to your wife's legal knowledges, you sure don't seem to understand what constitutes the suppression of free speech.![]()

He wasnt making the legal argument that Rogan's first amendment rights are at threat of being infringed upon. But you know that. The point is obvious.. a certain segment of the population would like to suppress the free flow of ideas that they disagree with, and their chosen tactic in this case is the same as it usually is.. try to get someone fired or deplatformed who has an audience. Their hope, no doubt, is that Google and the rest of the tech giants will follow Spotify and kick Joe off their platforms as well. This same thing has already happened several times... Including to our former president. For as much as you glom on to your wife's legal knowledges, you sure don't seem to understand what constitutes the suppression of free speech.![]()

I was wondering what sort of pretentious, holier than thou, unwilling to address the issue head on response you'd give. My money was on "Yes, I understand that you believe this", but I guess you've still got a few more canned responses before you return to that. Thanks, friend. I'll let Wink speak for himself.![]()
To paraphrase the situation: Some old man whose name I didn't know before yesterday said some other guy I didn't know existed before yesterday said that he wouldn't vaccinate his children. The platform that hosts him - Spotify - won't ban him, so I'm going to be so mad as to unsubscribe to Spotify. I'll still listen to it, of course, completely oblivious to the fact that ad revenue completely eclipses my measly subscription. I'll also replace Spotify with some other platform that also hosts Joe Rogan and that Spotify executives invest into because that's the way to stick it to the man!The point is obvious.. a certain segment of the population would like to suppress the free flow of ideas that they disagree with, and their chosen tactic in this case is the same as it usually is.. try to get someone fired or deplatformed who has an audience.
Thanks for the smiley. I chose the words I did to not imply censorship or any constitutional meaning. Yeah, I know the Constitution pretty damn well. That is because I had a good education and still read a good bit. Nothing to do with Mrs Wink's knowledges. Truth be told, the leading sentance was just a vehicle to make the joke about one of Mitchell's most famous songs. For as much as you glom on to your wife's legal knowledges, you sure don't seem to understand what constitutes the suppression of free speech.![]()
I don't think this was the response @Mirage was hoping for. Thanks for the smiley. I chose the words I did to not imply censorship or any constitutional meaning. That said, these people are throwing their weight/money around to inhibit another person's speach. If they could, they would see him not online or pubic speaking at all. Not illegal. Just funny seeing old hippies acting like the people they hated so much. I know, not so unusual these days, but always worth noting to remind folks of how fake the loudest people typically are. It is human nature. Some people don't believe in it.
I'm just biting my tongue, in this kinder, gentler AW. Have a wonderful evening! ?I was wondering what sort of pretentious, holier than thou, unwilling to address the issue head on response you'd give.
