Even if we knew, this would not be the venue to discuss foreign military sales with you.

First indigenous aircraft carrier to be launched next year: Navy chief

Interesting...........Sound like the Indian Navy is looking for a larger and more conventional Aircraft Carrier. One equipped with catapults, arresting gear, and maybe even F-35C's!

It will be very interesting to see if a Ski Jump is incorporated into the design of the LPD????

Well, they better hurry up & invade the Maldives before they sink in the Indian Ocean, FCOL! Seriously, am glad to see the Indian Navy & armed forces take on a greater role - too bad the Europeans don't really want to be in the defense business.

Might have to rethink the whole layout of the flight deck and superstructure and that might turn it into a baby assault ship (as opposed to transport dock).

I agree on both points.

Gators have got to be the most versatile ships out there and they bring a lot of logistics muscle with them. Carriers are really great at blowing the crap out of stuff (and threatening to blow the crap out of stuff- and we need carriers most of all for that) but amphibs do a lot more missions really, really well...

Don't know for sure, but as an aside, there was a hilarious video of an "interview" with a British admiral talking about the future of British naval aviation, which included some jokes about this very subject. Anyone know where to find it?

Naval LCA?

The Indian Navy is developing the Naval Version of its forthcoming LCA. Seems like such a small design would offer little in the way of range or weapons. That is to really be effective in such a role????

Plus, with the Indian Navy is already acquiring the Russian Mig-29K's. What's the need for the N-LCA in the first place. Unless, it was going to be used in a Carrier Training Role. Which, many Indian's flatly deny..........Confused???
