AN-18 O/I was there in 06, had to go to a few select fields who were very familiar with the orange and white goosehawk clown show... in summer they usually got sent on O/I away from any remote threat of weather. Had a couple kids stuck at NPA with waves of pop up sigmets, fun training, tough for OPS folks (gotta keep those dots a movin).

Yeah, the weekend thing started just after I flew mine (curses). Fly out Fri with instructions to have the jet back Sun PM before sunset, I believe. I seem to remember 7 not giving studs an O/I at all for awhile, or at least that was the student RUMINT on the other side of the hangar. I had heard through the grapevine that someone had done something stupid to ruin the good deal, though, so I was curious as to the current state of affairs.

lets seeeeee... the rotating beacon of STAN ninnyness pointed at yes O/I solos in 06... they must be about to be turned off again. Beacon has around a 4 year cycle from what I recall.

People usually want to do family stuff, and see the fireworks on the 4th. You should stick with friday because everyone will already be at work (if it's not a day off too).

I believe there's supposed to be some Red Bull promotional thing at the O Club tomorrow, which usually equates to a couple of cute Red Bull girls and lots of free Red Bull and the requisite vodka. Which equates to "you should be there, with all of your friends."

As for the 4th party plans, I'm hoping to run it by the VT-2 PAO tomorrow and see what kind of command support might be doable. Hopefully I'll get people to do the same at 3, 6, 4, and 10 (and 8, 18, 28, 7, and 9, if anyone wants to help out). 86 is a gimme, comparatively. Base CO wasn't out last week so hopefully he'll be there tomorrow to let us know what he found out about fireworks. I also talked to the Smart Brothers (a band - or duo rather - that's something of a Pensacola fixture, if you're not familiar) tonight about possibly playing and they sounded interested - apparently their dad was a Tomcat pilot and their parents met at an O Club. And we are looking at doing the fiesta on Friday the 3rd at this point.
