can anyone speak to the timeline it takes to get ODS and other training school dates? I was selected for a direct commission and just waiting on the Oath of Office to be sent from Millington.

That will depend on your NOSC. Do yo have any contact with them?

Hey guys, hoping someone can maybe help out. I’m going to apply for CWO soon but don’t have a stem degree or a physics series. I’m trying to think of ways to beef up the application. Would going after any cyber security certs be worth it? For instance, ITF+, A+, etc.

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks

I would be very rare for you to get picked up without those series, the ones that I had picked up who didn't have STEM degrees had started in tech majors and switched, which meant they still had that series.

In most cases when a PA says "preferred" you pretty much may as well read that as "required".

Yeah that’s what I figured. If somebody did get picked up for CWO without those courses, would it be fairly difficult to make it through the training pipeline?

Why not just take the physics classes instead?

That’s what I’ve been considering. The local community college only has classes during the day, so I’d have to balance that with work somehow.

You don’t need any of those. I was a business major with no STEM background or experience and I was selected.

I would fit business in the STEM degree piece. You still take a decent amount of technical courses.
Also, if the applicant doesn't have a STEM degree, they really need to comp that with a high OAR score and GPA.

Thanks for letting me know! What was your OAR, if you don’t mind me asking? Also, are you a CWO now?

@exNavyOffRec and @FormerRecruitingGuru, thanks for the input. I think my plan is to send it without the physics prereqs and if I’m not selected, I’ll go ahead and get those under my belt. I am very thankful for all of the info you have both provided.
