"Upon completion of training you will be commissioned as an Ensign, United States Navy, in the Naval Flight Officer program, designator 13900.

Odd... My advice: Call your recruiter and clear this up as soon as possible. Typo/paperwork fvck up somewhere is my guess.

But again, talk to your recruiter and clear it up.

Best'o'luck to ya.

HJ,

Is that for me or Bear? If for me, what letter are you referring to?

Cheers,
Bubba

For him in case he had a non aviator (maybe a reserve type) unfamiliar with names/designators

Not for you...you have your own good news thread going on :D

Ensign!
Bear,

I'm in the exact same situation. Recruiter says pilot.. letter says "Naval Flight Officer" with the designator as "13900". I just went and looked up designators and figured the "Naval Flight Officer" part was a typo. Maybe see you in Newport? (08SEP2007)

I went in last week and swore in and signed all the papers. All the paperwork and everything was for Aviation Officer Canidate, designator 1390, (pilot). So everything is good to go for me. No problems. My guess is that whoever wrote the congratulations letter (who was a reservist in my case) just made a typo or wasn't that familiar with the designator and corresponding job. Anyways, it wasn't a problem for me and all is straightened out.....I'm sure youll be fine too, just double check with your recruiter. Good luck at OCS by the way, I class up after you. (Sept 29th)
