DoD hiring freeze

Has any of my fellow GS friends in DoD received either step increases, meritorious cash awards, time off awards, or whole grade increases this year? It seems that indeed, at least in AF land, there is a freeze on such things.

The ARTs here have not.

My step increase is due end of the month. My agency did stop/hault our annual promotion program which was a huge blow to a ton of people and probably why we exceded an 8% reduction in workforce via volutary measures.

DoD (W) CIV/GS hiring freeze is loosening quickly. As of today current DoD open billets may be filled with current Federal employees with a current SF50. Good news.

On the flip side I’ve literally heard of commands getting new revised target numbers (ie keep cutting before you can hire) this week.

Same here. All our GS positions are funded for FY26, but who the hell knows.
