not ALL classes got popcorn and movies. i was 03-08 and we sure as poo didn't get any of that. we got powerbars in week 6. that was a highlight. and a night with our DI at the VFW.
not all the classes went soft in newport... it all depends on the DI.

The DI Fast is refering to, likes to stuff different and totally unorthadox to get a rise out of the other DI's. His antics keep things real interesting around here. Too bad he's on leave.

It was quite funny seeing 4 guys quit on wakeup wed cuz they had our DI and GySgt S do it, not knowing that liberty was just 3 weeks away.

Same shit we had to do: lots of PT with DIs yelling in your face. Except none of us quit, so I guess they were just weak.

Take this for what it is worth as I was an Army officer, and did not go through OCS but...

In any intensive training program there are usually a few folks that will quit right off the bat. They tricked themselves into thinking they wanted to be there, but the first time it gets the least bit tough they bail.

It seemed to me the more outwardly gung ho they were on 0 day, the more likely they were to quit. I always got the impression that they were trying to convince themselves they wanted to be there.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? What did they do that was so bad that 4 guys quit 4 days into training?

I've seen several candidates quit at AOCS before they ever made it into the building. Literally minutes into their navy career.

All because some jackass twenty year old candi-O was yelling at them.

If you can't take that, then God help you when your DI gets ahold of you.

well have no fear boys. once all of the yelling and push-ups are over with in 8 whole weeks, you'll get to live on a nice boat, eat some nice chow, and then sleep in your nice bed after "fighting" the war of terror. or of course you could trade in for a nice green uniform with an EGA on it and live among the spartans.

I always wondered what those kind of people thought they were getting into?? Like did they think it was going to be a 12 week academic course with a personal trainer or something? Did they think there would be NO yelling involved and that it would all be fair?

Fixed it for you

thank you, bogey spotter, for fixing the errors in my last message. I can sleep well at night knowing that it is 12+ weeks--not 8 weeks-- of ocs :)

Easy there, Chesty.........

It's not the same as AOCS or Marine OCS, but they still get plenty of Gunny love. They're not talking about the air forces OTS here.

Living out of a seabag for 3 weeks because we had no furniture except for a rack was sure fun.

Oh, we will.

P.S. MB did you get my response about your system issues? your USB subsystem is recognized just find in dmesg so I'm not sure why you're having issues seeing it via lsusb (try -v). If all else fails, consider upgrading to 8.04 from 7.10.
