Does anyone still have a copy of the email that a SNA sent to the 1 Star in charge of Naval Aviation at Millington requesting VR orders? This got mentioned the other day and some in my squadron had never heard of this email.
Thanks

I remember that. If you do get a copy be sure to read it from the bottom up due to all the forwards. Last I saw it was back in 05.

A SNA emails some Admiral asking if he can select VR out of primary because it is what he wants and he wants to fly for the airlines when he gets out, or something along those lines. The Adm forwards it to his COS with the words "Fix this guy". COS forwards it and so on. Finally it reaches some LT's who actually respond to the guy and rip him a new A-hole. So it had the guys personal email address and phone number. Then everyone from all types of squadrons starting emailing this guys and forwarding the email. It is a good read and a great lesson learned for new JO's.

Wow. BA for headwork and SA.

This sounds like the e-mail that the SSgt sent to the Commandant about his being denied promotion/re-enlistment for being overweight.

NOTE TO NEW GUYS: BE SURE TO HAVE ANY CORRESPONDANCE THAT YOU ARE THINKING OF SENDING TO SOMEBODY MORE THAN 2 PAYGRADES ABOVE YOU SANITY CHECKED BY A TRUSTED JUNIOR OFFICER/SNCO.

Back in 2004-5, they were offering VR slots out of primary to a few guys. Said SNA was a commercial rated multi pilot with some many thousand hours to his name before joining the Navy so he could be in a better position to fly for the airlines. He actually told people this. When he did not pick up one of the VR slots, he wrote said email as Flying Low wrote. After a couple months more, he ended up DORing.

Not the first time crap like this has happened. I'll add on to HarrierDude's rule: never, ever mass-mail or "reply all". That AF 2Lt who mass-mailed his command whining about how the upcoming command fun trip to a brewery wasn't appropriate because it encouraged drinking (made it around the AF and thence the rest of the Department of Defense in about 24 hours). My youngster year some plebe mass-mailed the entire Academy (Brigade, faculty, staff, Dant's office, Supe's office, etc) asking if anyone had seen his lab goggles.

Here's a classic one that made its way around while I was in the AF... mostly because it was sent out to the mailing list for all 700 JOs on base

Maybe I'm completely misinterpreting this, but it seems like the angry guy might have made some valid points. I suppose he didn't make them in a constructive or respectful way. A lot of what he said was the same stuff that Secretary of Defense Gates has been saying as of late.

I don't want to threadjack but I'm curious what you officers / senior enlisted on this site think about that.

Hmmm... If only there was a place to go where you could find out...

That would be awesome.

That still happened when I was there, too.
