In addition, the oncoming Stryker Bde and the new super secret high-tech facility to be built in NCTAMS (read), this little island will be packed. As if housing prices weren't already through the roof, I'm sure the prices are going to skyrocket even more.

That's the most pointed statement I've heard, "...Pearl Harbor is in the running for homeporting the USS Carl Vinson..."

I still haven't heard how they "create" an airwing out there. I'm guessing they'd grab a squadron each from the mainland and bring them over. And what would that mean for the future HSM-37? Guess they'd probably go from expeditionary to airwing and do it a lot faster than anyone would have thought. Interesting, thanks for the links.

From everything I have heard about Guam, the move of all the Marines from Japan there has sorely pointed out all the infrastructure issues. But, I still wonder how you are going to work the airwing into HI, I figure there are going to be a LOT of pissed homeowners in either Ko'olina/Kapolei or Kbay :D and they think the P3 is loud!

Anyone notice how the Fleet is repositioning assets under PACOM? ......

Were they the ones w/ the Vinson before? The Vinson was Norfolk, right? I know these are all things I could search for, but to be honest, I have better things to do at the moment, so appologies.

USS Carl Vinson was a west coast boat until after it's last cruise. It is now in Newport News for overhaul and refueling.
