F-35B/C Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter)

Now that the Chinese have hacked into the DOD and a/c manufacturer's systems, and have the plans for the F-35, the F-22, and the Patriot missile system, maybe it would be cheaper and easier to just purchase the Chinese versions. Just make sure the NATOPS is printed in English.

Just sayin'..................

The "Chinese F-35" is a two engine aircraft. Didn't the Navy want two engines for the F-35 all along.

After I read your post my internet shit the bed. Did Electronic Warfare Specialist Conscript Wang Chung just steal my T-45 NATOPS off my computer? Hope he didn't look at my browser history.

Would we be willing tolerate the lead content being too high?

So the Marine Corps is now stating F-35 IOC will be mid-2015 and the Air Force in mid-2016.

I'm particularly interested in how this will play out for the Marine Corps. Does anyone know what the timeline for fleet squadron transitions is? I'm asking because I haven't seen an up to date AVPLAN. Because of the sequester, are current programs being given less funding and future programs slid to the left to cover that funding gap? With one war over, the other winding down, and no imminent threat, I think some people would believe the most logical thing to do would be to accept a lesser level of readiness right now and slide these future programs to the left... more as a way of shifting money around than improving (or even maintaining) current readiness levels, not as a result of needing the F-35 sooner than later.

Are you a Harrier or Hornet guy? I think they just closed the window for fleet transition packages for an upcoming board. I forget the details, but its in a MARADMIN somewhere. A couple guys I know just put packages in recently.

I'm waiting to start the Hornet RAG.

I wonder if it's possible to attach more than one gunpod to the F-35...

Five gunpods at once would be interesting, might even have the potential to rival the A-10.

That's a great idea. I'm sure the engineers have already thought of that though.

I don't know, apparently they weren't so thoughtful when it came to designing a tailhook early on... But at least they eventually fixed that.

You know a while back I launched with 500 rounds 20mm and 2X GBU-31 and I thought to myself "Self, if only I could get rid of these pesky bombs and have 2 extra guns instead. Then I could truly take the fight to the enemy and do some real damage."

Once I was winchester I even contemplated ejecting, so I could hook and jab down there with my 9mm, MCMAP green belt and K-bar. Alas, it was just training so I went home instead.

Guns?!? Who needs guns? JAG knows that sonic booms is what scares the bad guys. We need bigger BOOMS.......oh, and stealth and VSTOL.
