Fairfield Lakes in Pcola?

Howdy guys,

Im still in the process of finding a place to live for API in Pcola. Ive narrowed down the choices substantially, and am leaning towards the Fairfield Lakes Apartments right off of Highway 98. I was wonderin if anyone has experience with this complex and what they have to say about it. Does it come with fridge/stove/internet and all that? Did they come furnished, and if not what did you do for furniture? (are there any special deals)

Thanks for the help!

Cheers,

One of my buddies lives there... he likes it. Comes with stove and fridge, not sure about the other stuff.

I've lived at Fairfield Lakes for a litte over a week now. They come with all the appliances that you mentioned, but they do not furnish the rooms. They have this alliance with Cort Furniture, and you do get some sort of special, but its really not that great a deal. I wanted a washer/dryer, and it was gonna cost me 75 a month, with a 125 minimum a month agreement. You can check them out on the web to see their furniture renting deals. The commute is great, it takes about 10 minutes to get to NAS Pensacola. Its also right by Corry Station, which has the NEX and Commissary. And for amusement, the dog track is right down the street (which was to my surprise quite an entertaining time). And according to the LTs at Flight Management, basically if you want Corpus or Vance, you will get it. So I wouldn't worry too much about the Whiting situation. But if you have any other questions let me know.

Oh yeah, you have to use Cox Cable for internet and cable. It will be like 100 a month for both give or take depending on what services you choose.

Lived there for API, great location for driving to NASP. They were pretty good about letting me out of our contract once i showed them that i had orders to another duty station....even whiting.

High ceilings are nice, their patio grill (if it is still there) was great, and the pool was decent.

Loved living there when I was in API.

If you get sent to Whiting for Primary, it is more than a 30 mile PCS and they gave me a letter saying they would cancel my lease. So you're safe from having a 40 minute drive if you do go to Whiting.

However, last I checked... nobody was getting Whiting. Unless you had family with you.

I really loved it, and you can't get much closer to NAS P-cola. Plus, BEAUTIFUL new buildings...

I lived there and loved it. Granted the pool table and the hot office girls helped, but I digress. That grill was nice when it worked, it "exploded" just after I moved there.

Really? That's nuts. Anyone know the reason why? When I went through there like 2-3 months ago it was an even split.

Yeah, because Whiting has been closed by the current CO...she can't afford any more students...but she's saving 14% by setting all the thermostats to 78 :)

No really, I have no idea. Seems that PCS money has to be spent by OCT.

We live here at Fairfield Lakes too while we're waiting for API to start the end of September. Then, we want Corpus (because it is better and that is where we're from), so this place is great since it is so much closer to base and right down the road like RIceOwl said from the NEX and Commissary, and the Navy Hospital too.

They are nice apartments and fairly new, so in good condition. Pool and tennis courts are nice too. They come with everything except W/D (we had that already), internet, phone, cable, and of course electric. Not far from beach either...if you want to shop every day, that is the only drawback, because the regualr mall and major stores like Target are about 20-25 min away from here.

The management is really nice too and they said they understand we will probably have to break the lease, but just try to give em 30 day notice and orders if you can.

To note: I gave them 21 days notice, and I had substantial damage to my apartments porch. We had rabbits living on the porch and the chewed up ALL the woodwork and doorframes... I was expecting around a $300 or $400 bill when I moved out. Not to mention the big holes in my walls from installing curtain rods and my wall mounted flatscreen.

They used my $100 deposit for the mandatory carpet cleaning and $15 base cleaning charge that they do for everyone. Then I got a nice letter at my new residence saying "You had $298 in damages to your apartment, but we have forgiven the debt. Thank you for staying at Fairfield lakes!"
