females at OCS

Hey, I'm in OCS right now and if there are any females who want questions answered (like I did) before you leave, feel free to drop me a line. I'll answer what I can. And YES they do cut off all your hair. My mini-mullet is still in the recovery process.

What else have you experienced there at OCS? How many other women are you in your class? How do the men treat you? What do you do each day? What is your job after OCS? Any information would be great to hear. Thank you.

I can answer part 3...

...we always leave the goddamn toilet seat up, and leave muddy footprints in the barracks. Geesh.

heheh

Hello, I am a female currently applying to Navy OCS. I have been reading up on it a lot. It sounds very hard, but I am very determined. Kind of scared, but very much looking forward to serving my country. I have lots of questions but really want to know if what I am reading on web sites posted by male OCS candidates is comparable to what I can expect (I hope that's not a dumb question). Thanks!

It's not a dumb question, just remember that women have been going to OCS for almost 40 years...it's not AOCS, it's not easy either, but with a good sense of humor and lots of pushups/situps it'll be a hoot. Don't let the concept of Marine Gunnery Sergeants faze you, either...everyone meets them at some point in life, for the better. Far as I could tell, the only difference for females is that you'll be expected to do more pushups than the guys because "chest to deck" isn't all that far. Good luck-

Navy OCS is a challenging time, but its not impossible. As we know already, females are the stronger sex, so its not a problem to make it though, you just have to stay focused and remember why you are there. It is by no means a reflection of how it is in the fleet (so I've been told) nor is it a reflection of what kind of person you are. If taken seperately, OCS isn't physically challenging, academically challenging, nor metally challenging... but because those three aspects are combinded, all under unfamiliar and uncomfortable conditions, it is tough and not fun. What it is, though, is a game; an initiation process and something that will be personally rewarding when it is all done.

Wow, candidates in OCS have the access to and time to get onto the internet? It must be really tough.

Yeah, didn't you hear? It replaces the obstacle course, as the Sea Power 21 battlefield moves into 'cyberspace'.

Target the -SOUTH- building complex. (anyone who has taken the AFOQT)

OK I shouldn't talk, they tore down the Navy o'course at my school for "safety" reasons too, altogether too many cargo net casualties and sand darts for the Academy to suffer, I guess. It was the kind of place you could get through without doing a pullup, but damned if you don't check your email TWICE a day. Hope at least OCS is sacred!

they cut your HAIR?

So they do cut your hair off in OCS? I really don't want my hair cut off. I thought it could be long as long as it could be put up quickly and kept neat. Of course, if its part of the deal, I'll take the short hair cut, not a huge deal. But would prefer not to. Thanks for any info.

I'm sorry, but Jesus fvcking Christ! Are you planning on being a war-fighter, or a God damned beauty pageant contestant?
