After receiving a pro-rec back in Feb, getting PRK, and waiting for several months - I found out today that my final selection for SNA is now official!! I'm so thrilled and relieved to finally know that I'm in! Thanks to everyone who helped with questions over the past months. I know that without Airwarriors this would not have been possible...Thanks Again!

Thanks guys! I don't have an OCS date yet...I didn't even find out until today (Friday) at 5:00pm. My recruiter literally waited until the last possible moment to tell me from the July board (Monday is Aug 1) - had me going nuts thinking that something was wrong!

I'm not sure if it would be more appropriate to say congrats for getting selected, or good job for all the work you had to put in to get selected. Either way, thats great!!

Did you have any trouble with the whole PRK process? Did you just get it done, wait the time, and get the waiver? Or were there any "bumps" in the road?

Slammer, I had some bumps to get over. I was pro rec'd in Feb, went to MEPS 2 weeks later, found out that my vision was slightly worse than 20/40, had PRK done 2 weeks after that, waited 3 more months, went back to MEPS for my eye exam, checked out 20/20, and the rest is history...

Cool. So it sounds like things weren't too bad relatively speaking. Reason I ask is because I may be doing the PRK thing. But you just made me curious about something else...If you got the pro rec, then found out about the eyesight thing, did they revoke the pro rec and you had to apply all over again, or was it just a get-it-fixed type thing?

Thanks!

It was a "I had the luckiest timing in the world" thing. My package went in one day and the very next day my recruiter called to tell me that I was pro rec'd. You normally have 30 days to get findocs in (and I was told 6 months total from the pro rec date), but I when I went to MEPS and didn't meet specs, I immediately went to my recruiter for help. He called the program manager and got a waiver for the 30 day deal so I could do PRK. Anyone know where I can get a great deal on a case of scotch? I'm pretty sure I owe him one...

sweet...glad it all worked out like that! Hopefully now I'll get some luck, should I need it (read: when I need it)
