Flight Suits and NWUs?

You guys should have followed the Marine model on uniforms. We don't add new pieces very often (I think we are still in the 1955 style PT uniform), we just change when and how they'll be worn. We get all the angst and loss of morale a real sea bag change would cause without spending a dime.

That is what started this whole mess, the Marines got their own Marine-only camo uniform and then everyone else wanted their own too.

I'm just hoping to get my hands on a set of organizational clothing type 3s before they hit the NEX.

But there has to be a policy somewhere. In order for a fleet CDRE to go to the TYCOM and ask for leniency, he has to be able to point to a policy if part of the argument is "well, the other guys are doing it." That's why I'm asking, given the new Marine policy.

Oh, you want the Hinge answer with references! :D

I'll root around on Tuesday and see what I can find.

IIRC, at TW-5 it was announced in coordination with the regional uniform shift. I recall my Skipper FWDing a message that was like "TLDR, wear SDBs now instead of whites and green flight suits instead of tan until next summer."

So some contractor supply type can issue you the wrong size and insist that's how they're supposed to fit?

Or maybe that's just NMPS Norfolk . . .

You are a disgrace to your fellow wearers of oak leaves, a true hinge would have gone in over the weekend and found the answer to stick it to those dasterdly JO's and of course look good for the boss when he/she came in on Tuesday morning.

You besmirch my silver bars of JOPA good sir. I was, in fact, ensuring @Gatordev didn't get away asking for uniform regs without catching shit.

But here's the thing...I'm trying to enable JOPA to be able to wear their tan flight suits come this summer, even though JOPA appears to be unable to move the football down the field. In a year-ish or so, I won't care either way!

You want to talk acquisition failure? Look no further than the NWU.
The "see-through when it gets wet" original version of the yellow PT shirt was a close second, but at least it was a single T-shirt instead of an entire uniform.

If anybody ever deserved to get fired for gooning up an easy job and wasting millions, then it is the guys on the NUB.

The irony of that is that you're technically supposed to give the organizational set back and then go buy your own pair.

There's some memo out (or at least coming out) from big navy saying folks can keep their issued sets. There's really no point in turning them in if they aren't going to be issued in the future.

I thought it was in the NAVADMIN that came out about this allowing people to keep theirs. But realistically, I don't know of anyone who has turned theirs in when they switched commands.
