I'd go ahead and take the ASTB, seeing as how the math doesn't really exceed Algebra II, which I would assume you would have taken by 10th or 11th grade.

As far as ASTB retakes go: 30 day wait for second test (as mentioned above) and 90 day wait (from 2nd test) for the 3rd and final testing.

I've gone through Algebra II, taken first level trig and business calculus at the college level. On all the gouges I've seen though, the physics is no walk in the park and the aircraft mechanic-type questions were familiar to stuff I learned in ground school but that was 3 years ago.

Grab yourself a book like this from Barnes and Noble or Borders and it will make things a lot easier!

Barron's recently came out with an ASTB prep book which by most accounts is far better than the rest.

if you have done all that you will have no problems with the math....other than that the rest of the stuff is covered in the study guides preaty in depth...the better scores on the test will outweigh the cost of the book.

Awesome.
Go to Barnes and Noble and buy these books:

Read them. Sleep with them under your pillow. Do whatever you gotta do to score well on the ASTB, because that's the test score that really matters if you want to become a pilot.
