More than 50 Sailors and civilians from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island volunteered their time to rehabilitate and paint the aircraft for its use as a display. Thomas Tack, commodore of Electronic Attack Wing Pacific, speaks at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Naval Air Station (NAS) Whidbey Island Gateway under an A-6 Intruder and EA-6B Prowler display. Oak Harbor Mayor Patty Cohen and Capt. Gerral K. David, commanding officer of NAS Whidbey Island, were also in attendance. The Gateway was a joint venture by the local Oak Harbor community and NAS Whidbey Island to commemorate the bond between the two communities.
