Hey everyone. I once read about a "Luftwaffe"(german air force) unit based at NAS Pensacola, but can't find a whole of info on them now. Does anyone know what they do? If they are still here. ALso, are there any other foreign military units based(not temporary here for joint training)in the U.S? thanx.

Yeah, it's called something like the 3rd Luftwaffe training squadron. They train their Navy and Air Force NFOs there with us... they also provide 3 instructors to VT-86... one Strike, one Strike/Fighter, one T-2. Also have a small admin staff over there. The Italians also provide an instructor to Trawing 6...

The German Tornado RAG is out in Holloman in New Mexico. They used to have an F-4 RAG in California also...

Why is it the U.S. has military bases all over the world, yet those same countries dont have bases in the U.S.?

Well, they kind of ask for it for their own protection. A better question would be why there are no French, Swedish, or Belgian troops on the 37th parallel defending South Korea... funny how nobody has a problem with us 'going it alone' over there...
