Fun While Stashed

NFO's in A-Pool

The Museum at NASP'cola needs more people to run the flight simulator. This is probably the easiest and coolest stash job available. List of perks are below:

-Play with Microsoft Flight Sim while the general public oohs and awes at our great aviating skills. Usually we teach kids on field trips how to fly, but school's out fo summer.
-Wear a flight suit every day
-Work 1-2 days a week from 9-noon
-Get out of working parties for free

We've lost a handfull of people last week due to class ups, so if you're waiting or just got here, let me know and I can hook you up.

P.S. If you're NFO, you will eventually get stashed, either the rec center, an office answering phones, or flipping burgers (yes that's a real one too). Just remember, you have the option to pick this if you want it, before you're assigned one.

When I was waiting (many moons ago), one enterprising young NFO "hooked himself up" with the museum stash job to avoid getting stashed somewhere lame. He was the only person in A-pool at that time to be stashed (this was the beginning of FY05, so there were tons of attrites to fill all the stash jobs).

How do you know if you will get stashed or not? Blind luck, so plan accordingly.

P.S. I was in A-pool just shy of 9 months but I didn't "eventually" get stashed. Maybe I was lucky or maybe I was just so damn sexy that no stash job was worthy of my sexiness. I dunno. But it is very possible not to be stashed while in A-pool (I knew a bunch of FOs with no stash jobs), unless you volunteered for it, got in trouble or just got picked by the NASC gods. IMHO, enjoy your "paid vacation" because I doubt there will be anything like it once you start flight school. The Navy paid me $23,500 to muster M-F. Rock on......

I had seven months and didn't get a stash job....oh and I could only shoot in the low 80's...but it wasn't for a lack of trying.

Maybe between primary and advanced, work on the short game a little and you’ll be all set. Nice job.

Four months of stash circa 1986 teaching sailing on the Schools command ketch "the Hermes" (yea, we called it what you think) waiting for VT-10. Worked two days a week of four hours then a full day every other week taking AOC's out to teach them that the pointy end is the bow.

Gotta make your own luck and there were lots of other crappy stash jobs around might as well get something you enjoy

I swear I'm working on it. I'm trying to get better at the range before I embarrass myself on the green :D

That’s what makes P-Cola so awesome, you can get on the executive course no matter what your level of play is and you won’t piss anyone off or embarrass yourself.

You wouldn’t be laughing at me stud I’m a nine, I was pointing out to my SNFO brother that AC Reed is a great place to learn.
