Yeah, this hurt the Marines in the Special Operations community to cuz Marines like to consider all Marines as better than other combat arms and thus they didn't consider Force Recon a special operations force; thus, all the special stuff was goign to the Delta Force, Rangers, Navy SEALS, etc....so finally the Marines named Force Recon as a special operations force; according to a former Recon guy I know, he says he thinks that is good cuz now they will get the respect they deserve.

The most deadly weapon in the world to me is the pen; there is nothing more dangerous in this world than a politician and his pen :D

so finally the Marines named Force Recon as a special operations force

Force Recon is not in SOCOM. "Detachment 1" is the name of the group that is starting to work with them, and is considering becoming part of the "SOCOM Community."

Right now Force Recon is considered a Tier III asset (Sometimes Tier II as I understand it, I am not an 0321 so I don't know all the in's and out's).

All those other units are Tier I and get a lot of funding directly from SOCOM.
