My husband is a 1st time applicant for the Intel program (too old for Core). We received his yearly SRB payment October 1st but were told we would have to pay it back if he was accepted into the program. Is this correct?

I am in the same situation and recieved an answer of no, i would not have to pay it back from both my admin department and the CCC. I put some money away just in case though. You never know when someone somewhere might look at it and say "hey, they weren't supposed to get that" and yank the money back in a nice lump sum.

You won't have to pay it back but as soon as he gets his commission the annual payments will stop as officers don't get SRBs. I'm pretty certain he'll get the payments while in school because he'll still be active duty enlisted.

Wrong. Once you report to NSI all your subsequent SRB payments cease.

Also another interesting tidbit that I didn't know before going to Newport. Once you get to NSI your annual enlisted uniform allowance also ceases. You will get the $1200 or so for your initial officer uniforms allowance but thats a one time payment. It's on your own from then on to purchase new uniforms.

Well he's gotten about $29K of the $45K but we figured all along that we would have to forfeit the rest of the SRB as soon as he is accepted. We just weren't sure what the rules are regarding the current FY SRB payments. We thought our payment would be put on hold pending the results, we were quite surprised to see it in our bank account on October 1st.

You're entitled to everything you’ve received to date. If he's selected then he just won't receive the subsequent year’s installments.
