I flew Prowlers without so much as a high school diploma - seriously! They don't call me GED for nothing!

No, Brett wins. I don't think anybody can top this, "my GPA was this low!" story. Wow. This is really humorous after my brother told me that the recruiter is his neighborhood told him that his 3.2 and Political Science degree don't exactly keep him running with the characters who have been preparing for this their whole lives.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm the only guy in the fleet flying with a 10th grade education, although since I'm in school now, I won't be able to make that claim for too much longer :(

What's a degree?

I have one whole college class under my belt.. US History.. 3.33 GPA - woot!

The rest of my current 77 recognized regionally accredited semester hours are from boot camp, class "a" school, my former YN1 rating and a butt load of Coast Guard correspondence courses, a couple of class "c" schools and OCS.

API counts as 3 more ( http://militaryguides.acenet.edu/ShowAceCourses.asp?aceid=NV-1606-0098 )

And when I get my herc co-pilot qual here by the end of July, I'll have 51 more.. heh. ( http://militaryguides.acenet.edu/ShowAceOccupations.asp?aceid=CGA-C130-001 )

131 S/H's w/o any type of degree.. I'm sure not a record...

HS drop-out, enlisted in the Navy, picked up legacy STA program which sent you through OCS, flight school and first sea tour before you got any college. First shore tour (which I'm currently enjoying) is an all expenses paid free ride at a private university in sunny SOCAL. As if I needed more incentive to "stay Navy," I just put in my bonus paperwork:D

Good times,

Take this with a grain of salt, as I only just put in my package.

My recruiter was on campus for a career fair, and he had up a sign that said "minimum GPA 3.4" for SNA/SNFO. When I asked about that (he was pushing me towards those, with my 3.0) he said it was because half the people coming up to him were in majors like hotel management and hospitality. At our school, you can sleep through those classes and steal the professors car, and the worst you'd get is a 3.8. (note: you can study round the clock for engineering at the same school and barely pull a 2.5)

From what he told me, the boards always look at the whole person concept. If you have a psychology degree from Harvard it will look a hell of alot better than an Aerospace degree from the local community college.

If you don't know how they'll like it, apply and find out. There is no "one thing" that will get you summarily rejected, with the exception of things that would get you kicked out of the services in general.
