For those needing background music while online, try
www.pandora.com. Give it a starting point, say one band you like, then it picks other bands that have traits in common with it. By feeding it more favorites or by positive or negative review of the songs it plays, it will refine a personalized online radio station.

I think I posted this a few months ago... however good to post it again, it's a cool site.

Alright, I like the idea, and I'm trying to figure it out (I need to load my ipod before I go on vacation). How do you get it to recc stuff?

Don't think you can, you'd have to set your recording software to record off whatever stream is being sent to your sound card. Entirely possible with decent software.

ahhhh, I thought it was going to give me a list of stuff to check out.

example, I type in "hank williams III", and it just plays me a hank III song...I dunno, I can just do a search on any random music site and find stuff that way...I guess I can use it to preview songs I don't know.

no, you type in a song you like, then it'll play other songs that are similar in musical quality. Then if u really want to DL it, go to iTunes or Limewire(free) or something

Yeah I just figured it out by letting it play for a while.

Unfotunately, it just followed The Clash with some kind of pro-gay punk sung..."we wanna sock it to your bottom"...uh....

Tell it you don't like that song and it won't play it again, which is nice.

If you click on the artwork to the song, it gives you an option to purchase from iTunes...

Zab, search for a program called Limewire.

Download the free version to your computer and you can type in the artist/song and it will come with a list. Double click and bam, she starts a downloading. When it is done, you can drag and drop it into Windows Media Player or to your iPod.

If it was ever recorded, someone probably has it there. Heck, I got Pat Green's new single a week before it made its debut.
