Good Stash jobs, and how to get them?

I am no where near in need of a stash job, but would it be possible to run errands or something of the like at the Pentagon? Sure it would be stuffy, but it might be interesting to work as a psuedo intern with some of those "in the know".

Same advice as above. It is possible, but it all depends on your current situation and how advantageous it would be for the USN.

What I heard is that there is no OHARP for SNA/SNFO because they check into API right away, and "they" (the folks in charge at API) don't want to let you go. Just what I heard, and if it is false I'd like to know ASAP so that I can go about securing orders for somewhere other than FL. Thanks

Can't tell you if that is true or not, but you can always trump them by getting yourself setup with a job before you ask them and having the folks you're trying to get stashed with ask API for you. It's always hard for them to turn down a request from one of the COs.

I did OHARP before flight school and I would definitely recommend it. My "boss" was an aviator and he said, "I know what you are about to go through so how about you come in if I call you. Otherwise, hang out dude." It was awesome. Six months getting paid to live in Chicago was awesome. I think I maybe did a grand total of one month of actual work in six. As for when you get to Pcola, I would suggest NOT asking for a stash job. Why? You have the good deal with A-pool. Why put the penalty suit on when you don't need to. If they want to task you, they will. They had me do the spin and puke a few times and then take the ASTB a few times. Nothing too nasty when I look back at it. Although, at the time I thought it was the biggest inconvienience in the world. OMG, I actually have to work more than two hours today? That's total BS. Little did I realize that the fun was only beginning. Just take the time off. You'll thank yourself later. The only job I ever heard of that was awesome and you totally had to scam your way into it was to get the Blue Angel stash job. You never flew but sometimes you got the perks (i.e. Going to special events) My buddy got free backstage passes to a bunch of concerts that came through pensacola during my time down there. Other than that, just go to the beach and try to hook up with the twins at Maguire's...Are the twins still there?

It would suck. When I'm seeing O-5s humping cases of sodas down the halls, you can bet you'd be about 1 step below chewed bubble gum stuck to the underside of a toilet seat.

Get a real stash job - it's called gainfully unemployed on the beach or mustering for your tee time. Enjoy the break. You'll have plenty of time to do petty jobs for would-be important people in the future. :)

NFOs do not check into API right away. Right now there is a 7 month wait from when you report to when you class up so I can't see them refusing to let you go do a stash job somewhere. Even for pilots there is a 2-3 month wait, you just have to enquire about your options.
