hey guys question,

During TBS are you going to be living on base or do you have the option of living off base? And if so are you allowed to bring your own vehicles?

Thanks,

If your married you have the option to get off base with BAH, Garrisonville is a choice pick since your closer to TBS then anywhere else. If your not married your in the barracks.

So if im not married, Im on base. Does that mean that I still cant bring my own vehicle? I would really like to know if I can bring my vehicle on base because I am about to purchase a new used car.

And does this go for Flight training, AIT, A school too?

Thanks guys.:icon_mi_1

You can bring your vehicle.

After TBS you will be able to live off base if you so desire. You can also bring your car.

Yes

I went up to Quantico for my brother's OCS grad................I stayed in Alexandria(SP?) and had to drive out to the base. The evening traffic in DC is terrible.................I am glad during my time in, I never had to hit the East Coast. There is no traffic in 29 Palms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot ever remember seeing 62 bumper to bumper..............

You can bring your own car..but good luck with (i'll shall rephrase- CLOSE parking.) *there's always the prairie deck is what I called it...aka parade deck. There was a lot of renovation going on...and they closed up the Loser Boozer Parking lots...(don't really know the explanation on that one)- but there's a few new barricks going up so what once was parking- ie side roads were closed off. That was alpha 07 so I don't know how fast construction is- also the backgate time had changed- glad we didn't have to endure much of that...but apparently it pissed off other plt's.

There were a few single guys who got to live off base- My husband's friend was one of those...(never asked) so I don't know exactly how he pulled it off or under what circumstances but he lived in those apts right outside the backgate on onville road.

I pesonally think living in the rooms despite the death of mold spores in the summer heat...or the non working ac that doesn't kick in until 3 weeks after summer...or the crammed up musky rooms builds a sense of camaraderie- because basically you're in the same "Shithole suffering together". Once one of the guys in my husbands fireteam was out- he stayed more days with the guys seeing as now he officially had a bed to sleep in- compared to lining the chairs in a row and using his bdu jacket for a blanket. We lived right across the street from "Paddy's" so even the 5 minute drive home was hard when you had to be back in 3 hours.

enjoying learning all about every acronym possibly made for TBS. :)

thanks guys! that really helps out alot. for a minute there I was getting the impression that I had to wait a certain amount of months untill we could bring our own vehicles...well at least thats what my cousin said...but then again she went enlisted. Its probably different for Officers

=)

How about motorcycles? Does it apply to them too?
