GPA needed for placement into OCS

I'm currently a naval reservist who just graduated from Loyola University, about a year ago I came into the Navy as non-prior service basic, with intent of getting some hands on experience with the enlisted ranks before I put my OCS package in.

However, I am currently much more interested in becoming a Marine officer than Navy, as I feel it (the process) is much more hands on (I'm the type of person that is not going to ask someone to do something that I won't or am not capable of doing), and challenging.

I'm interested in either human intelligence or law. I have a 3.51 gpa with a double major in US history and finance.

If anyone could give me some advice as how to next proceed, it would be greatly appreciated.

This...is...Caketown!
As far as your GPA, you should have no problem with that, especially provided your experience. I got accepted last year and my GPA was significantly worse. The only time I've seen GPA be an issue would be if you're applying for an air contract with a limited number of slots for that class.

I would advise contacting an OSO, but if you're already enlisted there might be another path for you to take...someone else on this?

Talk to an OSO, that is the best advice you can get... they are trained for these questions... GPA is good and solid... get us some PFT scores, oorah!

oh, try this link out. It is a link to a PDF file from an OSOs website here in texas, but it has 'up to date' contact information at the very end in the "contact" section (section 18?)
Go to that section and select the OSO closest to you and call them. If the office has moved and numbers have changed (as is the case for Arlington OSO) then call another OSO office and get contact information

this is the URL for the chicago OSO, it is currently down, but it might go back up...

I think MarineOfficer.com still lets you post contact info so the appropriate OSO can call you. Talk about service!

Jesus people put way to much on individual scores.

For the record, I pulled it off with a 2.6 in a non-engineering field and with a 1.8 from my previous school too boot (Failed Math for attendence wtfo).

Its going to take me awhile to get into the type of shape needed to produce a stellar performance on the pullup and run portion of the prt. On my last pfa (navy) I did 87 pushups, 106 sit ups and ran my mile in a half in 10:01. Pull ups are not my strong suit as my current max is 15, and I know I'm going to have to improve my run as a 20:02 3 mile would not cut it. I'll give myself four months of training to prepare.

You'd be surprised at how few pullups some guys can do and still get by. 15 isn't bad, though you should still strive for 20. Your run time is better than anything I've ever done.

HUMINT? Interesting, I haven't heard many new guys express an interest in that. Just curious, what turned you onto it? It certainly is a growth area, though you might want to start studying foreign language like Urdu or Dari..........;)

No doubt another misinformed dreamer who thinks Intel Os are like James Bond. ;) Truth be told, one of my former Spies went to a HUMINT operation for his second tour, but he spoke fluent Russian, although I don't know how many Soviets we're interrogating these days.
