Grad school in the Navy

Schnugg is correct.

If you are a TACAIR (do we still use that term?) guy, taking "time off" to get a graduate degree is not a good thing when it comes time for command screen. Not that I don't agree - if I'm looking for a tiebreaker between two Shit Hot guys and one of them went to Monterey for a year or two and the other went to cover a hard fill job or went back to Sea and thus helped out the big Navy, guess who will get the nod?

Is it fair? ???
Is it real life? You betcha.

For aviators who want to stay competitive, there is NPS EMBA. It is an MBA done over VTC. Google it if you have any questions, but it is one way to break out on a JO shore tour and get your masters. You have to pay for books and owe 3 years (runs concurrent) at the end.

So how tough is that courseload to do in your shore duty off-hours?

Managable. You have to have an understanding spouse and some time management skillz, but the courses are designed for people who work full time.
