Here's another 'GREENIE BOARD' ... a pretty basic one w/ no 'artwork' for the VA-46 'CLANSMEN' flyin' A-4E's in the late '60s ... the colors are similar to what I described earlier (green, orange, etc., although somewhat washed out in this example).......

Looks very similar in format to our VF-151 F-4 squadron of about the same era.

I think there might have been a lot more color back then than today - smaller decks, 27Cs, no ALCS, no HUD, faster approach speeds, pitching decks, some aircraft very difficult to land (F-8, RA-5C, A-3, and even the F-4 with its 140kt approach speed).

LCDR Stark (third from top) died in the Forrestal fire.

Yep...I was acquainted with Gerry, but surely don't remember where...maybe the Instrument RAG at NLC...or the A4 RAG?? I recall someone informing me of the details of his death shortly after the fire. :-(

You young'uns don't know how easy you have it.

Finished it for you.

The VRC-30 greenie board uses beer bottle caps for the type of passes. Not only do you have to fly, but you have to drink!

There has to be a pic of it somewhere. That was a sweet greenie board.
