That is cause for arming the T-34s. I'll bite the bullet and volunteer to test out the weapons :D. VT-6 has gotta earn the right to be called Shooters after all...

Well, they already have the weapon mounts on the wing, so sounds good to me.

I once did a training flight from Long Beach Airport to Compton airport (southern California obviously). Needless to say, on final, I was actually considering that this could happen to us. For anyone who doesn't know what/where Compton is, wikipedia is your friend.

My buddy played a basketball game there. Afterward, he accidentally peeled-out his mom's mini-van when we were leaving. Everyone in the neighborhood, including those inside of Washington's barber shop, looked directly at us. He high-tailed it out of there.

And this brings us to the Rules of Engagement question. Situation, you are flying your combat equipped aircraft on the way to the weapons range. When you get to the range, there is someone in the outskirts of the range opening up on your aircraft with a 50 cal. Is it legal for you to engage? Part B, same situation except you are inside of 12 nm from the US coast. Part C, same situation except you are outside of 12 nm from the US coast. Let the sea lawyering begin!

Part A: No

Part B: No, unless directed to do so by competent authority (which I would interpret as someone who is NOT in the flight, even if CAG is leading it...), and you'd better get that on tape. In San Diego, we favor "King Stahlman" for bailbond services...but I digress...

Part C: Same as Part B.

You'll never get the "competent authority dude" to approve in time, so might as well go "master arm SAFE", set max range, get someone to give you a visual look for damage and head back to homeplate. You'll probably be drinking for free that night....assuming you can wind up the debrief to "the competent authority dude" before the club closes...which I doubt.

I've flown in there several times. Really nicely kept field, terrible everywhere else. Guess the gangs haven't gotten into representing GA yet.

On a side note, I use to work as a fire sprinkler contractor and had to make several trips to Compton to pull permits. Lets just say that the only other white guy I ever saw was the Cashier in city hall, and he was behind an inch of bullet proof glass.

what percent of RL officers get jets?

My home is few miles away from compton... back in high school, cops had to escort my basketball team's bus to the school, walk us into the lockers, to the gym for the game, watch the game, then reverse order to get back home.
