Good tip WBGTSNA. I was looking hard at the sport tracks but decided against one because of its bed size. I use my bed a lot, so it has to be the right size. :D I will reconsider them.

Ya.. till you pull up next to a real car. Get a GTO!

2004 WRX (like mine) 0-60 - 5.2 sec
New GTO (350hp) 0-60 - 5.5 sec

and I can't carry my dogs in the back of a GTO, nor my ski bag with skis on top :)

I like the GTO and I'm a HUGE fan of the 70's GTO. If i were a rich man i'd buy a classic GTO in a hearbeat. Love the lines on that car.

Does anyone remember the "Chameleon XLE" SNL skit? It was with Phil Hartman and parodied a luxury car commercial. The exterior was a POS but the interior was immaculate. Nobody looking at the car from the outside would ever want to steal it! :D haha

I tried to find it online but to no avail.... it's a classic though...

Try again... new GTO (05-06) has the LS2 and comes with 400 HP, and most mags are getting sub 5 second 0-60's. With minor mods I'm getting over 430 at the wheels (thats about 515 flywheel HP). :icon_tong My next round of mods should get me into the 470 RWHP range. And that's all motor, no juice, no boost. :D

Got any pics? I love the new GTO and to second the 0-60 time, I have seen around 4.9 in all mags. Seriously considering getting one when I graduate with the USAA loan. Also looking at the new Ford Shelby GT500 (if I can afford one, supposed to be around 43K) and the supposed to be 2008 Dodge Challenger (also expensive, supposed to be around the same price as the Shelby). Thats the big advantage over the Stang and the Challenger is price, about 10K cheaper.

The GTO drives like a boat and looks like it was designed by a woman. I'll take my WRX over a GTO anytime.

I realize that American named cars aren't made in the U.S. anymore, but I ain't driving anything that ain't got an American name, maybe some Europeans. Plus I think the GTO looks good, especially in black.

I have to admit, as much as I love the GTO's 400hp motor, it is a very Heavy Car...
A WRX (especially the STi) is quite light on its engine (285hp for the WRX, I believe and a full 300hp for the STi). Plus, it handes beautifully.

Yeah, but I would rather have a GTO just because it says Pontiac.

Get a Lotus Elise! Sure it's not practical...but chicks dig it. :icon_smil Not TOO expensive and definitely an Ensignmobile that nobody else has. Although, they are pretty pricey to maintain...

HAHA!! My boss has one as an extra play car (i.e. he already owns a Porsche 911 turbo and a BMW Z4 3.0si Roadster). It's nice but you can't really fit anything in it and the seats aren't that comfortable for say long rides seeing as it's built for a track more than the road. ;) But it is pretty freaken fun to drive. hehe. :D

On a reality check type of note my friend has a Scion tC and it's really nice. The features are great. It has a lot of options that you expect in a more expensive car and it drives and handles nicely. Plus it does have a fair amount of room for stuff in the back. Oh and the coolest part is the back seats recline and there is a little sunroof in the back too. I thought it was rather different and neat :D as far as added details go.

I have another friend that just bought a Honda Civic Si and that is a nice car. But it's a little out of your price range starting at 20K but it is NICE.

I don't know if you have looked at a Volkswagen Passat. I have an 2002 model and it is an excellent car. Great gas mileage and plenty of power. Also it does great in mountains. I have the 1.8 liter turbo and I bought it a year old and its resell value today is just about $400 lower than what I paid for it.

sounds awesome.....the 6.0 Goat was one of the cars that I seriously overlooked. How is the interior/build quality? That is the only thing that makes me hesitant to buy domestic.....

what kind of mods are you looking into?

Funny. While I have no opinion on the GTO, the statement above is exactly why I WOULDN"T want a car.

I just have a deep love for cars that have American heritage.

aside from the GTO, I would have to agree w/ this sentiment......I don't hate domestic cars categorically, but Pontiac....what a POS line of cars they have had for the last 15-20 years....
