....hoooooooo, man ... let me think about it and I'll post here or PM you ... it's been a few years, you know ... OR, take this:A4s forever....so you simply took turns with each eye focusing on the chart everyday.....could you explain what you did exactly?
Quick & dirty: you focus on any normal font printed matter at arm's length with the eye you're working ... keep the other eye open, but 'covered' w/ a patch or something else appropriate to black it out ... then slowly bring the printed matter as close to the eye you're working as possible & still keep it in focus ... hold it ... hold it in focus ... then close eye you're working and 'focus on infinity' in the darkness, i.e., checking your eyelids for light leaks (you'll get it after a while) ... then open eye you're working and quickly pick up & focus on the 20/20 line (or 10/10) of your eyechart ... and after a while .... *** PRESTO !!! *** CRYSTAL CLEAR *** !!!
If you blink ... it's gone (at least early in the game) ... but, no problem-O -- repeat as necessary, and after a while, you can 'focus' on distant objects and 'see/feel' the image 'becoming clear' without the 'exercise'. Sometimes, you can 'blink' an object into clarity.
Believe it.
Focus on 'infinity'??? You really can if you understand the concept and I later learned how to do that in a tactical environment when flying ADVERSARY -- it's a 'real' thing -- and it enabled me to look into a piece of sky --- focused on 'infinity' -- and detect movement, a.k.a. bogeys.
I was ALWAYS the first to pick up the bogeys, and I was usually the oldest pair of eyes flying in the A-4/F-4 gaggle ... that same technique worked in the airlines, as once again I was the first to pick up traffic probably over 80%-90% of the time ... and that's pretty damn good.
I'm not ... 'it' was; the ol' eyes ...
One of the worst things for visual acuity (assuming no other 'genetic' problems) was books, poor lighting, TV ... and now I suppose, computer screens. Once you get away from all those, your eyes have an even chance of improving ... my eyes took a BIG up-tick on 1st Class cruise ... i.e., no studying and lots of long distance 'focusing'. The only problem is, you might not get into the NAVAIR unless you can see the eye charts & balance your studies BEFORE you can 'get away from the books' ... :icon_wink
