Wow. This went well off the subject, didn't it? I thought the initial question was a decent one. I know that they salvaged the -60S that went down off of San Diego earlier this year. That was in about 3000' of water, but like Joe said, they were trying to determine the cause of the Mishap. Apparently the Navy goes to great lengths to determine why one of their multi-million dollar aircraft suddenly stops flying. Even more so if somebody gets killed.

It makes sense, they're trying to prevent it from happening again in the future.
