There was a good commentary I read a few weeks ago - can’t find the original now - but it made a couple of interesting points.
One, speculating that the “Libya model” references is either really tone-deaf or Bolton deliberately goading the NKs into dropping talks. The NKs have explicitly compared their situation to Libya’s as to why they’ll never end their nuke program; to whit, ‘Qaddafi gave up his nukes, look what happened to him.’
Two, threatening to walk away from negotiations only works when the other party is desperate to make a deal. Kim would like some things to change, but at the end of the day he’s probably content with the status quo if he can’t get anything better. The administration, on the other hand, has made this their big foreign policy ‘win’ and has much more to lose.

And the recent comments from DPRK about Pence was triggered by him referring to the Libya model for NK denuclearization. Even with some substantial security guarantees from the U.S., I don't see how NK will ever think that denuclearizing is in their best interests.

Maybe, just maybe, the goddamned Millenial that went to school in Switzerland, only to return to his shithole country, is sick of having a shithole country.
Maybe he wants to join the 21st Century.
Maybe it’s just a play for some internal politics and power.
We pretty much had nothing to lose and everything to gain by talking.
I’m cautiously optimistic, but will not be surprised if there are some setbacks on the way.
There are three Americans happily at home now, alive. That’s a win.
If we repatriate the remains of our POW’s and KIA from the Korean War, even better. Shit, maybe we can convince them to return the Pueblo.
Anything is better than nothing, because all the work previously did nothing to stop NK from developing nuclear weapons and ICBM technology.
Would love to look back a year from now and see this as a great starting point.
Even if peace breaks out and we take all of the nukes away, 44% of Americans will still hate the president and CNN/MSNBC will continue to rail against him.

Well as my mother used to say, your options were dishonor or war. You chose dishonor. You might still get war!
Remember, the stated USG policy is denuclearization - the complete dismantling of the DPRK's nuclear program and infrastructure. When that happens, I'll be the first in line to sing Trump's praises. Until it does, my statement stands.
Hard to judge a man by single action or act, better to do so by looking at all they have done. Given the President's eventful week in foreign policy I remain wary of the rhetoric and look for concrete results. And already 'lil Kim has accomplished something none of his predecessors did, which was to to be treated as an equal by the most powerful leader in the world.
