Careful JAC....you might get the rumor mill started again...and Lord knows there is nothing more psychologically debilitating to A-pool Ensigns than 'knowing' that Big Navy has to 'whittle down the numbers' one way or another.

Just a thought. :D

(Unless, of course, you really are serious, in which case God help the A-pool...)

Oh you better not get too comfortable either, they're going after dudes all the way up to just before winging.
Because word on the street, I heard from a guy who knows a guy, is they are on short supply of gold Naval Aviator wings.

You've figured out that salty old advanced stud's plan!

I work in anthro too and the LCDR just told me that she has to anthro out at least 100 more SNA's before the end of the fiscal year....seriously.....

She did mention making a trip up to Meridian to make sure that certain SNAs did not slip through the Anthro chopping block!! Good luck.... :icon_tong

thanks for all the posts. i didn't mean that she was out to get me because she is a bad person. it came out wrong. i meant that she was not going to change her mind about not endorsing a waiver. i think i will request one more remeasure and see where it takes me. thanks again and i hope that rumor isn't true. i don't want more people going through what i am going through.

I understand your frustration, just realize that their job is to uphold the anthro standards to every new student who walks into building 633. I know it seems like you could probably just squeeze by, but the standards are there for your protection. There are folks walking around today who survived the training command by pulling the yellow and black handle, so it does happen even this early in the game. Our survival systems only save lives when they are used within the envelope, which includes you just as much as it does the aircraft.

So when you crash your aircraft because your little legs cant give full rudder movement, and you kill yourself and the rest of your crew, and the findings were that the pilot in command shouldn't have even been in the cockpit in the first place...some flight doc went against all regulations and gave you the go ahead...who is liable in that situation?

You think the Navy would risk that? I know you probably want to fly as much as anyone, but if you stepped back, would you want to risk that too?

You could always try hanging upside down by your knees... see if that helps some.

Best part about the worried A-poolers, is knowing that you're not one of them. If they had to get rid of 100 SNAs, then I'd be looking around at muster curious which fellow ENSs would get the chop. I never worried about making it through. Those who worried were usually the ones who ended up in trouble. The rumor mill which gets everyone excited is stupid. If you're worried in API because you hear they need to get rid of people, you have the complete wrong mindset and are probably setting up a self-fulfilling prophecy.

BREAK

Anthros are legit. Not much you can do about it, especially a solid bone length like BKL. If it were height (sitting height), you might try hanging upside down or sleep sitting up for two days to compress or decompress, but short of making your upper-ass HUGE, you can't change the BKL.

I agree. Which is why I'm glad to be outta there! 400 worried Ensigns made me not look forward to muster at all...though it is amusing hearing the new stories about various debaucheries and shenaniganery from others from my school just arriving...

Are you SNA or SNFO? I know that when they saw how short I am (5'2"), they told me I could be entirely anthro'ed out of SNA and just bumped to SNFO... still in the cockpit, eh?

Just try to have a good attitude -- remember, we're officers first. Selecting aviation was never a guarantee. We have to keep it in perspective how lucky we are to be here and how hard we have to work to stay here. I know we do a lot of SWO-bashing, but those guys work their butts off too!

I know it's hard to watch a dream go down the drain because of something out of our control (trust me, I've been there), but everything works out in the end.

Good luck

I was anthro'd out of jets originally, they said my sitting height was too tall. Seemed fishy, so I did some digging and asked for a remeasure. Had to get approval by COL Thomas, then by CNATRA. So its not as easy as you might think to get remeasured.

Anyway, back in i go only to find that i was erroneously measured 2.5 inches SHORTER then my original anthro measure. So either i shrunk big time or he messed up. Same guy did both rounds of measurments btw. I was no where near the limit for sitting height the second time around and subsequently cleared to fly anything.

If something doesn't pass a reasonable man test, something might be up. They will push for you only as hard as you push. Sometimes you just have to keep at it until ALL options are exhausted. Don't give up the faith, if you want it find any and all ways to convince them.

im flying out of Kingsville now too btw, so my extra efforts to get a second look really paid off in the long run.....
