What's an example of a specialty store that would suggest a shoe based on your foot? or is that a fairly unique process?

There are running specialty stores that cater to that very purpose. Use Google to find one in your area.

Yea I felt that New Balance was trying to suffocate my feet. Way to tight width wise as well. I know that New Balance makes a good quality shoe. For my feet though, NB is not even an option anymore.

Asics have always been the most comfortable shoe to run in for me, but then again I am god's gift to athletic activity.

Don't bother spending lots of $$ on new shoes before OCS... you will have your foot typed and be told what kind of shoe you will need. You will then procure said shoe during your issue.

Unless you wear larger than a size 13, then it would be wise to bring 2 pair that fit.

I got my 17E's after 11th week. And they were the wrong type.

No joke. They have tried to get me "Legal" flight boots since Aug 01. Still, the custom flight gear goons cannot get them.

I have a waiver to wear, and the squadron buys, Redwings :D
