IFS affecting future learning

CG has a community of under 1,000 pilots - and they have a significantly lower tolerance for flight school attrites - when CG does send a young ENS / JG to flight school, its desired to have near certainty the candidate will succeed - the extended IFS helps accomplish this.

It's not like he had a lot of friends in the Air Force to begin with as CSAF but General McPeak lost some of the few he had when he said this about the three T-3 accidents;

Yeah, maybe he was right or maybe he wasn't, and a certain amount of blame lies with the (dead) IPs, but his delivery on that one was way too douchey and not enough leadershippy. Foreign air forces didn't have nearly as many problems operating the same airplane for the same mission, the airplane had less than ideal (though not bad) spin characteristics that were probably made more challenging by operating them up high in Colorado, and the USAF implemented a shitty OCF/spin program with those airplanes.

From what I researched only the USAF planes had the 260HP conversion. For whatever reason, that was the source of most problems. Tons of engine failures. As I posted earlier, a really decent plane, as flown by foreign air forces, but modified for USAF.

Why do this in IFS when they could possibly learn it in Primary?

Possibly to screen out attrites earlier in the pipeline, since the USCG is presumably on the hook for the cost to train each student they put in Primary.

But that's only a partially-educated guess.
