Well, a one month wait, arrival to classing up for API or IFS, if necesssary, sort of "immediate". Lots of things need to be done; physical exam, correcting/re-testing as necessary, getting a place to live and etc. Also, finding where the parties are, polishing your pick-up lines and the like. So 2 months is not really "that long".

You have to understand I came down in July. There was a LOT of other SNAs here. It took 2 months for them to actually get me an opening in IFS. Now, compared to the summer, there is no one here.

Now come on... I liked Bravo Julliete. Nothing is better than the on/off toggle for the flaps. So, you want 10 degrees of flaps? Well, then count to 3, slowly. Plus it is painted that lovely two-tone doodoo brown. All kidding aside, I also had a GREAT time at Destin. All I hear from ppl who had the others are complaints. Nothing but praise for Destin from me.

Destin just got a "new" 172 too. It's a 1979 172N I believe, but the engine is more powerful like N53456's. I haven't flown it yet, but supposedly it's alright.

I am supposed to start IFS this Thursday. Supposedly I get to choose Eglin, Pcola, or Destin....any last advice on which is the best? I am leaning towards Eglin from the stuff written above, but just wanted to hear some more. Thanks.

With PAC (Pcola) you'll probably be flying Traumahawks. Instructors hate them, so do students. However, you don't have much of a drive.

The choice between Eglin and Destin merely differs between your study habits, etc. Destin is more self-motivated, where as Eglin will put you through formal classes. From talking to buddies and such though, at Destin, you may get to do cooler stuff. I got to ride along for a spin, do actual soft-field landings, etc. My friends didn't. That doesn't speak for everyone at Eglin though, just what I've encountered.

And by the way, SPINS ARE SO FUN!

Piper Tomahawk...has very undesirable stall and spin characteristics. There is a reason Piper doesn't make it anymore.

I got to do soft fields, aerobatic maneuvers, chandelles, etc at Eglin. Some of that depends on which instructor you get. Plus its nice working out of an actual military airbase. If you get a choice, ask for Mr. Miles hes awesome. Plus you fly N98530...probably the best plane at Eglin. Mainly because everything works as advertised in it.
