I can't complain too much though cause Destin is beautiful and you fly along the beach a lot... you get to see cool things like sharks in the water sometimes, and they like to swim close to the tourists... haha

Holy crap, don't tell me things like that! I've already seen way too many shark specials on the Discovery Channel to feel very comfortable about swimming in the Gulf. I hear the Coast Guard guys see the sharks all the time right next to the beach. Let's hope there are less of them around Corpus...

NIFS changes year to year.. I know Marines who've done it, and those who never have the chance.

It's nice, but it didn't help me that much. The T-6 is so much more complex, and the instructors are so demanding, that having a few hours bumping around in a Cherokee or a Tomahawk won't do that much good.

Helps a little with area orientation and with understanding "Hey, I gotta get ATIS first!" and with understanding where the VOR needle points. Beyond the "oooh and ahhh" aspects, VT-10/-4 will teach you a hell of a lot more in a couple contact flights than you can get with IFS.

Just my $.02

What aircraft do you fly in IFS? What is the main purpose of IFS? Can you get a waiver to pass through IFS if you have previous flight experience and/or licenses? These may seem like silly beginner type questions but I hadn't even heard about IFS before now.

Still learning how much I don't know.

You will most likely fly a Cessna Skyhawk 172G ( or something similar). If you have your private pilots license, you can get out of IFS with the proper certifications.

It's mainly to see how you handle in an aircraft i.e. no airsickness, no freaking out if something goes wrong.
