I'm at TBS now.. Is there anyway once I'm finished here to do IFS anywhere other than around here or Pensacola? Thanks.

If you're married, chances are you're going to Milton for IFS. Other than that, most go to Bay Minette and a smaller portion to Mobile. That's about it for IFS. I'm not sure if they still do it up at Quantico, you might know more about that than I do (thought I heard they stopped doing it up there).

Bay Minette? Wow. When I went through, it was between NPA and Eglin. Nice to see they are expanding the opportunities. Is IFS required now for everyone?

Do you have to go through IFS if you already possess a Recreational Pilot's License?

currently if you have private or recreational you don't have to do IFS. If you don't have either of those but have a xc solo they review on a case by case

They are doing IFS in Milton now? Where?
the school is called AMS I believe, not sure what it stands for, guess I could google it

required for everybody, SNA's and NFO's alike

i don't know about recreational, if you have PPL then no, but recreational might be different

have you done a x-country solo? i think that's what they look for

A friend of mine just mentioned today that she never did IFS because she has her Rec and she never did a cross country or night flight.

Quantico is better for IFS, more relaxed and your not around navy folks who are fresh to the military....not that a TBS Lt. is any better, but I hear that some of the IFS instructors down here in P'Cola try to treat it like it's Primary or Advanced. I did IFS up at Dulles Aviation in Stafford, I had a pretty good time....away from TBS and all that bull, and you get the experience of flying in the ADIZ and talking on the radios a little more.

No I have not performed a cross country flight. I do not have my rec. license yet but could get them in a month or so. A recreational license does not require a cross country flight. Once you get your recreational license, you can only fly 50 miles from the airport you flew out of.
