They gave us the choice to do it in VA or FL, that was six months ago. Everybody who did it in VA got done faster and classed up for API sooner than those who went to FL for IFS. Proceed at your own risk.

Yup, API still seems to be a bottleneck down here in FL. Guys get through IFS pretty quick but then stay on stash jobs till they class up for API. It isn't as bad for NFOs as it is for SNAs. FOs, I've seen in the past few months- move on to API alot quicker than pilots. But back around the same time last year there was essentially no A-pool for IFS to Primary. Students would be classin up the next day at times.

11 months ago I had over a month wait between IFS and API and over a month wait between API and primary. I'm an SNA and my SNFO buddies that did IFS with me had identical waits, with the possible exception of starting primary a couple weeks before me. It's impossible to guess the cycle since as soon as you or I know what they're doing, they change it up to keep us guessing. :D

Also, it's pretty funny that things lined up this way:

Recreational? Damn you're in the minority. Supposedly there are only like 200-300 pilots in the US with that certificate. People who don't go Sport usually go "all the way" to Private.

For those who checked in before the mad rush of the 26th, it's more like the little a-pool of last year this time, also I know of quite a few NFOs that are not classing up to let SNAs get API slots. Quite a few SNA studs are classing up as soon as they finish IFS or, if they are IFS complete, as soon as they finish all the check-in checklist items. Granted I don't know the detailed of every stud classing up but that is what has happened recently for those I know. For those who checked in with the mad rush of new grads, I'm sure the wait will be what ZahirM is talking about.
