Actually not true. -51 uses them for transits to the range they use. I believe it's 120 gallons per tank, but I could be making that up.

Yeah its 120 gallons per tank, I do remember that. I was just relaying what I was told here. All the instructors I've flown with in 40 say they've never seen aux tanks on a B.

We are at Max Gross with a full bag and an ASW loadout, the AUX tanks are too much weight for other than ferry flights.
