Intel Competitiveness

I am currently in the beginning stages of going through the OCS application process. I'm looking to do intel if possible, but I understand that it is one of the more competitive designators to get. From what I've read, only about 10-15% of applicants get this designator. My recruiter has told me that based on my oar/gpa, etc., I am competitive for intel.
Age: 25
OAR: 52
GPA undergrad/grad: 3.79/3.63
I have two questions which I haven't been able to find answers on this forum or anywhere else online.
1. I have a friend who just got pro-rec y for SNA, and he said for that any SNA package that did not have SNA listed as the only designator would be passed over. Is the same thing true for the IDC community?
2. Does anyone have a sense of how competitive intel is going to be in the next year of so?

What are you degrees in? That is a big factor.
1. false for SNA, IDC tends to only pick those that have IDC as 1 or 2
2. it is always very competitive averaging about 10%, seen as low as 3% up to 15% a few times (if I remember correctly this is the time the board had NRC do a preliminary cut right off the top)

Undergrad was Government, Grad was Int'l Security and Economic Policy.

Your GPA is great, and the post graduate degree will be a plus, but what your degrees are in are nothing that is going to make you stand out, they "prefer" tech degrees, and in the past a large majority of applicants were non-tech, so the selection rate of the tech guys was much higher than 10% and the non tech was much lower.

Is your main goal to be an officer? If so then put Intel as choice #1 and SWO as choice #2

Yes. That is my main goal. If I am passed over for intel but accepted for SWO as #2, what are my chances later on of being able to transfer to an IDC designator once I've gone through OCS?

That is another animal entirely, who knows what things will look like 4 years from now.

IDC is very difficult to get into, extremely low selection percentage, if you are in the IDC field that would be a BIG plus though.
GPA is great
Degree is average
Appraisals look real good, do your LOR people know you personally? if not kind of discount those.
Your best shot with a non tech degee is Intel, on the bad side it was mentioned that Intel may be closed for the next board, RUFIO might be able to get better info on this.
Nothing like waiting to the application deadline to submit, hope the processor or PM didn't find something that needs to be fixed.

Yes, all the LORs knew me well. The U.S. Senator not so much but I have supported Honor Flights which he is a big proprietor of here. I was a prior AG(IDC) with IDC warfare pin. If that helps. Thank you for the feedback.

I forgot that AG was part of IDC, I was thinking CT, and IS guys, those are the ones that seem to feed well into the officer IDC

Hopefully Intel isn't closed for this board

RUFIO may pop in and comment if he knows, generally they have about 60 per FY, some of the picks earlier this year are saying they are getting dates for FY 16 so it wouldn't surprise me if they hold on some designators, they have in the past.

Dang that sucks. I guess if that does happen I'll still be a SWOful for that next date, whenever that may be.
