IWC Board June 2020

I applied for 18200 IP. 47 on the OAR and the OCM said it was possible for a waiver so I did the legwork on my end (CO approved it) and forwarded it to CNRC. 3.86 GPA for Computer Information Systems. 11 years served as an ITSC. Qualified everything I need, CMEO, SAPR, UPC, and had a few sailors get mapped as well.
If they straight denied it based on the OAR I would definitely understand.

My name is not on that list.
If you needed a waiver, Mr. Celestin would have sent you back a confirmation when you received an approval or a denial. I would hunt for that in your emails in case it got missed.

If you aren't on that list I would guess that your waiver for your OAR score wasn't approved in time for this board and I would expect you'd be on the next board. Mr. Celestin is your best bet here.

I had originally submitted for intel and my name was on the INTEL at board list. But I was Pro-recd Y to IP 1820. Do they typically move candidates around based on what they think will suit them best?

I have also been Pro-recd Y for supply. Can't decide which route to choose. Haven't been able to find much on IP career progression. Curious if an offer to IP is something you don't want to turn down.

Lots of good info on that page.

You have a computer science minor, probably a reason they penciled you into IP.

The following is the FY21 career brief for IP, if it helps you out. It makes sense after you study the chart for a while and look up acronyms.

Edit: For all designators, you can read the entire Line Officer community brief slideshow this came from here: https://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/boards/activedutyofficer/Documents/FY21 PROMOTION BOARD MATERIALS/FY-21_Active_SECNAV_Community_Briefs-Line.pdf

Technically, if you are otherwise qualified for any given IWC board then you can be considered for any of them. So even if you applied for Intel, if you were qualified for all of them then your name went in for all of them.

Now, for my personal opinion, take a moment to evaluate yourself as a person. If you like to deal with a lot of computer contracting and system development, pick IP

Supp-O is likely to challenge your ability to juggle. IP will challenge your intellectual ability to absorb and integrate. Both have good post-service possibilities. The beauty of mil service is that you will get paid the same either way, so just pick the one that suits you best.

Hey all!
I’ve been lurking on this thread for awhile, and finally got results from my recruiter.

PRO-REC Y for 1810!

I was told an OCS date of Nov 8th with the ship of Oct 25th, pending COVID.

Just wanted to share my experience with you all.
stats:
Female
25
OAR:51
BS: Anthroplogy 3.06 gpa
Two IT certs from my current employer
No prior service

I had submitted for Crypt, Intel, and SWO
I had received a no two times, adjusted my package with a new motivational statement, reconsideration letter, and new LORs.

Still somewhat in shock, but happy to hear the good news (any any news to be honest) after this long wait.

I'll see you at that Nov 8th OCS class! Hopefully we get another influx of ProRec-Yessir this Tuesday, because based on the assumption that 18 were accepted for Intel alone, it's looking to be a good selection board.

Two boards ago IWC Board 2 DEC 2019: 34 out of 191 = 17.8%
One board ago IWC Board 2 March 2020: 22 out of 133 = 16.5%
Current board IWC Board 29 June 2020: 18 out of 127 = 14.1%

I just wanted to put it here for the next IWC Board so when they start looking at the past IWC Board thread they can see this.
