Look at a calendar... then find the Fridays. Note the dates. That'll be your answer.

To add to the question, will there be an API start date the first Friday of January (the 4th) or not because of holiday traveling? (Obviously if we have to be there then we will!)

Thanks!

Latest word for the NASC side was Dec 21 - Jan 7 holiday break (according to them if you are not on leave you will still muster every morning however).

That means people are atleast on duty which could mean there might still be an API check-in on the 4th...not sure...

In case you're confused about this: whatever your orders say about "class commencement date" is irrelevant. Report to bldg 633 when your orders tell you to report, and you'll class up as soon as IFS and the other administrivia are complete. I see you're a grad school guy - are you IFS-complete? If so, arrive on a Wednesday if you can, and you could be starting as soon as the following Friday.

I'd check in on the last day leave/orders allow you too. If A-Pool is anything like what it was when I was down there, you'll have some wait... shortest waits when I was there were pilots going to Vance... 1 or 2 months for those that are IFS complete, I think.

In other words, don't be in a rush to start. You'll start API, and the Navy will get its money's worth out of you, and then some.

I classed up in 5 days, IFS complete and corpus bound. That gouge is now 6 weeks old, but I'm fairly certain it's still a relatively short wait time. IFS on the other hand? Crack a beer....

probably not until the next week, because you'll need your NAMI physical. Those are on Tuesdays... And I recommend reporting on Wednesday to give yourself the most time to get things squared away. That is, IF you are the hard-charging, must-start-API-now type. I was just tired of waiting. To each his/her own.

Look.. here's a bit of advice.

Don't worry about starting up at any specific point. You will start when the guys with the wall full of names and a bunch of darts decide it is your time. I got here on the 6th of July. I am now on my second flight in IFS, and the chances of me finishing before Christmas are slim to none. I know someone who got here two months ago, classed up for IFS, finished in three weeks and is now starting API. There's no use in trying to judge anything, as the factors that go into any kind of date prediction are far too numerous to bother with. It's like the age-old "what % get jets" question... Just don't bother.

Have a beer, come home from muster and sleep all day. Enjoy your time off. This is the last time we are gonna be able to do this. Ever...

Yeah, I'm not really all that worried about waiting around or anything. If I have to, no big deal. I'm just trying to work out my travel plans post graduation from Grad School...ugh, it's been a painful year and a half...

More specifically, I'm going to the in-laws for Christmas and we're planning on getting back on the 4th of Jan, if there's a short wait for API right now, my detailer could write my orders (which I haven't gotten yet, SO SLOW!) to require a report date coinciding with a class-up date in Jan...

Due to the government,I feel over-stimulated.
view form the CG side...

Hey gang,
I am finishing up OCS right now and recently spoke with the CG Capt. who is the liasion at P-cola . He said there is a backlog right now for IFS/API but it should be pretty much gone by the time I get there in Jan. Hope he's right...

Who's going to be starting IFS? I will be arriving the first week on Jan. along with the other 9 CG OCS peeps. Looking forward to it...:icon_smil
