FS SNA - OCS 15 APR
You were on the Jan 25 board correct? When did you pass meps? Im still waiting for my FS, I was at meps Feb 10.

Correct. I went to MEPS sometime in June 2011. My OR made sure I had everything done prior to submitting my packet (MEPS, SF86 etc). Was originally shooting for the August board, but missed it due to paperwork issues. I am sure you will be receiving your FS soon. Hang in there!

I have a question regarding the 30 day period between receiving a Pro Rec and being medically qualified. My recruiter notified me about my selection for SNA on February 9. He then notified me that I needed additional medical history from two orthopedic surgeries from my past. I scheduled appointments and saw my ortho doctor as soon as possible to get a follow up appt. for both surgeries. I had them send the write-ups to my recruiter and awaited a MEPS date. I went to MEPS February 27 and was told I was medically qualified and they would send the information to my recruiter by that thursday. I found out yesterday that I didn't score high enough on the depth perception test so I went to an optometrist immediately to retake the test. I scored perfectly and had the optometrist send the write up to my recruiter. I guess the recruiter has to send something the N3M now but since it is so close to the 30 day deadline I am wondering if I should try and get an extension? Any advice is appreciated.
If you recruiter was on the ball he would have had you gather those documents earlier, it might have been no one trained him on doing this though.

The civilian processor at my NRD requested 30-day extensions for all of our pro-rec'd individuals just in case (apparently OPM is having computer problems and can't seem to access our NASIS/JPAS info even though the Navy has records of everything). I believe they've started on an alternative review to fix the problem.

Anyway, back to your original question, you'll need a 30-day extension most likely, and if one hasn't been requested by your recruiter/civilian processor, you may want to inquire about it.

For what it's worth, this is just what I've been told as I've understood it, and may not be completely accurate. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. I'm PQ'd by N3M but have yet to hear back on the JPAS.
Hmmmm, none of our guys have been having any issues with JPAS, been getting stuff back quite fast.

I received an extension in mid-February since I had a shoulder injury when my OR informed me of being pro-rec'd. It's a 30-day extension, but I'm not sure if they can extend it beyond that (at least in my case).

NavyOffRec,

I am curious how the extensions really work. As both you and my own recruiter said, I should be safe from losing my pro-rec even though I cannot get to MEPS until May because of the PRK waiver. Are "extensions" extra time just to get paperwork filed?

If a recruiter talks to the right people and explains a situation in which someone like myself might not be able to complete all the paperwork for a few months, do they just let it go and let them maintain their pro-rec status?

I'm not really worried, just curious as to how it all works.

Thanks for your time.

From what I understand, the NASIS info submission was technically successful; however, OPM has no record of the submission or anything to do with my security clearance application, let alone the finger print card which was Fed-Ex'd to them.

There seems to be a computer glitch on their end for both me and at least one other applicant from my NRD. Therefore, if I'm not mistaken, my processor has decided to submit all my info using e-Qip instead.

pro rec no, basically they turn everyone down, since the board is an IDC board so if at least one designator has selections it will meet, but they can turn down everyone on designators that are closed. This happened once before, when NFO was closed, they held the boards and selected pilots but everyone that put in for NFO rec'd a Pro No.

Intel is the only designator I applied for as my app has been sitting since Oct. So if this designator is closed ProNo, we will have to resubmit for the next board?

Yes, if they indeed go with no selections and if 7 is fairly close to FY13 goal then more than likely it will be about a year or so before the next board and you would have to resubmit.

From what I can gather, Monday the 28th is Memorial Day. and my FS letter says 27 May. Will I get further/clarifying instructions later from my recruiter?

Memorial day isn't one of the holidays that affects the report date, you will get to spend you first holiday in OCS.
