Jax AW Gathering

I'm proposing a BBQ/gathering for all the AW's here in Jacksonville. We're new to the area and thought it would be good to meet some new people.

Since it'll be hard for everyone to come up with dates/times, etc I've put together a couple options (see below).

If you think you'd like to attend you can respond here or send me a PM.


Dates: April 4th (Sat) or 5th (Sun)

Place: NAS Jax * there are a few parks on base that have grills, restrooms, and play areas for the kids

Time: Around lunch/afternoon

I think a potluck would be good, my family will provide the hamburgers/hotdogs/meats if others can bring sides, drinks, and others.

Hopefully we can get a good turn out for this now that the weather is nice but not too hot yet.

I'll be syllabus complete then, and if it wasn't so far of a drive from Pcola, I'd be tempted to come. Considering.....

I'll be camping on the Navy's dime that weekend at a little getaway in Maine. Would love to rally the troops and check out the o club or something sometime, though. Any word on how it is down here.

I think the O'club at NAS Jax is, from what I hear, only used for special events...I guess we'd qualify as a special event but a good turnout would be needed to make it worth it.

We were hoping to make this family friendly as many have kids. And we know what happens at the Pickle household when someone has to stay home

There is a large covered patio area just 50 yds north of the T-bar. Great wide open spot on the water for kids and a burger burn.
Or you could wait for May and do it at the base pool, which is money. Cheap, great snack bar, beer...

Just get your storage unit and do your house hunting leave. I have arranges 60Rs JAX for you!

Ok, so if this weekend there is something in the VP community is there another weekend closer that would work?

What I didn't want to get into was throwing out a bunch of weekends because obviously there is always going to be a conflict.

We can have more than 1 too...
