What about SWO board? I still can't believe people would decline slots after all that..
I got a call from my recruiter and I thought it was going to be about my final select letter. Well... it wasn't good news. He called to say that I somehow failed the depth perception test. I'm kind of in dis-belief at this stage, I've always had better then 20/20 vision and have never had depth perception issues before. He said he's going to check into the possibility of being able to have it retested at a civilian doc, but he's unsure if that's an option.
Has anyone else ran into this problem? Is it possible to be retested and get a waiver from a civilian doc? I hate to be negative about meps, but hopefully they’ll give me a shot at being retested at an actual doctor vs disqualifying me based off a 5 min test that was rushed during meps.
The AFVT depth perception test is not reliable (at least in my case) since I failed on one attempt and then passed 100% on a second attempt. I suggest you get a second opinion. If the civilian eye doctor says there aren't any problems with your depth perception, then you should question the results at MEPS. I was able to get a retest at MEPS, but I had to take the same test (AFVT). For the second time around, I got better instructions and passed all the rows. I wish MEPS would administer a more reliable depth perception test since the stakes are so high--peoples' career aspirations depend on it.I got a call from my recruiter and I thought it was going to be about my final select letter. people jump thru hoops get test done, get cleared, then fail at OCS.
Some decline due to NPQ, some just change their mind, some aren't told about the years required, it is a variety of reasons.
The only thing I saw was it said Pilot, but then again Pilot is the most restrictive so you are likely to lose more.
I swore in last Friday! My hand was sore from all the signatures (jk).
One thing that worries me is that they are trying to set up a preship PRT for me and the other person in my class. I didn't realize this was even done and they were vague about the requirements when I asked. All they said was: "You are not going to fail."
Are they doing this now and what is the requirement to pass? I'm not trying to aim low but I would like to at least be certain I meet it!
Well I have an appt. with the eye doc today at 3pm. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Hopefully meps was just a fluke. Definitely nervous, but it's hopeful to see that this has happened to a lot of guys on this forum before and they pass the second time around.
Congratulations on passing. Also, welcome to the world of being terrified of the OCS physical.Tested Friday - Randot Test - 9 for 9. Doc said I had no depth perception problems. I have no clue what happened at MEP's, but I'm glad that it's all cleared up now. My OR said I should be good to go now for SNA.
Shoot, amen to that! (I was terrified). I'm still nervous that I'll somehow have problem with the circles when I do my OCS physical. Sounds like they'll let you do the "randot" test if you have trouble with the circles test though so I'm optimistic.Congratulations on passing.
