I'm still wet behind the ears here at K-rok, so take this for what it's worth:

Concerning the glass/steam issue, I was told that we would all get some glass cockpit time in the C sims and/or jets (towards the end of training) so that we are somewhat familiar with what we'll see in the fleet.

If that's true, I think it will work out well for me. T-34 --> A = smoother transition and C --> fleet aircraft = smoother transition. So in a way you get a little of both.

Things are smooth in 9??

hey, things are flowing smooth in 9. I don't know what you guys are *****ing about.

Things might be flowing smoothly for you…for now…but my class spent 18 months in the TS program…..AT VT-9. Were you at the last winging?? See the guys walking around with the 558 days to train patches??? Yeah that was my class. Like I said, the log jam of studs in Phase II is getting removed. Hopefully, that will fix the time to train issue.

Kingsville Time to train seems to be significantly faster, esp. vt-21. My class started ground school June '04 and is scheduled for the March 7th boat. Probably have a few ACM flights left after that but if the weather gets better we should be TS complete in 9-10 months. As far as the Kingsville social scene, I have been too busy studying to go out :icon_smil , but I hear the country Luhua has all kind of thrice divorced, make-up pasted, thirty-somethings looking for some flight studs to take them to the promised land (i.e. anywhere other than Kingsville). Anyway, Just a rumor I heard from buddies in Vt-22...

but seriously... Kingsville sucks, but from all the IPs that went through Meridian and those who have seen both, to a person they have all told me Meridian is far worse. TTT in K-rock is a lot less (which is pretty sad), so that's a plus I suppose. Either way, it's not like you're picking between two nice places.... your choice is essentially do you want to get stuck in bumf-ck MS or bumf-ck TX.

Does K-rock have any Advanced guys left? I know that's one thing that's clogging up the training in Meridian.

the only advanced guys we have are from the E2/C2 side and we're pushing them through uber fast

The only thing that might hold us up down the line will be the lack of weps dets. There's one heading out near the end of April and who knows when/if the next one will be this fiscal year.

My class has caught up with the -22 class that stared a month ahead of us. 21 is pushing us pretty fast. We'll see how long it lasts.

Wait Catfish, obviously you didn't get the WHOLE scoop from your -22 buddies on the Luau girsl. You can't forget that not only are they thrice divorced, but chances are real good they probably have three little tykes runnin around from those three previous get togethers. Always a good time...

Hey squeeze, I didn't say there was anything wrong with your girlfriends at the luucoww. Just meant that since you are on the 15 month program you can give them that much more attention :icon_smil Seriously, I'll send you pictures from the boat. Btw, if this weather ever clears up we were thinking of swinging the sticks up in Northshore this weekend. All interested, let me know...

What I really love is that the day you check in to your squadron here they tell you something like, "hey, get a look at this boat...you will be doing this in 10 months.." HA HA HA....I told that to some of my 22 counterparts and they almost fell over. It might take 14 months here, but better than almost two years for some in Meridian. Plus we are gonna be toward the end of studs learning on steam gauges.....the last of an old school rite of passage....meatball-lineup-AOA, meatball-lineup-AOA

Wow you checked in June 4th 04 and you will be at the same boat I am!!! I checked in July 20th 03. Heck I started Advanced in April of 04 and had a lot few flights.

Just as a side not, one of the guys I went through DJETs with in Jul 03 went to Kingsville and winged in Jul 04. I was still wondering what the front seat of a T-45 looked like.

The one postive is that I got to fly the buckeye and that was a plane I fell in love with.
