Kneeboards...

SO the hot-sounding TACCO on BALTOPS was Princess Vespa?

The funny thing, is that is the image I have in my head when I am dealing with a non-cooperative Pelican crew.

9G... awesome. Love it. The metal spring clip is great for holding my pencil.

As for my whiz wheel... stick it between the knee board and my g-suit. Works out really well.

We had to use them during RI flights in HTs. Calculate timing for approaches, fuel burn, gay stuff like that.

Yeah, if the flight computer isn't doing it for you, then just do it in your head. I can't take my hands off the stick long enough to do that anyway... well maybe now with the autopilot, but DEFINITELY not in the T-45.

In the A-4 ... I used a watch. Navy issue Hamilton analog, if you must know. ALWAYS hit the turn points, push times, target times RIGHT ON THE MONEY.

In the A-6 ... I used a watch. A self-purchased Rolex from the China Fleet Club, if you must know. The B/N and the multi-million dollar attack/nav system ALWAYS managed to confirm my turn points, push times, and target times RIGHT ON THE MONEY.

I love progress .... and technology. :)

These days, everyone (almost) is on GPS time - makes things easy.

Hey guys.

I'm going OCs soon but currently flight instructing at ECA (Sporty's Flight School). I used to work in catalog production and product eval. on Sporty's catalogs, so if there is a kneeboard suggestion on improvement or something you'd like to see, shoot me a PM and maybe they'll just design it. (not sure if you can use any kneeboard or only navy issue, but thoguht i'd offer to help out if there's something you wish you had on 1)

The 9G is great, no improvements needed. We can use any kneeboard, so long as we buy it.

mikelack: We can use what we please. Just have to buy it. Key to a good kneeboard in a single-pilot tactical cockpit, at least in my experience, is simplicity. 15 pouches and 300 pages of stuff doesn't generally help. It's always funny watching guys start T-45s... they have the ENTIRE inflight-guide on the kneeboard.... by the time you're done it's only a few pages of stuff you need. (I did the SAME thing, everyone does)
